Putin 'Personally' Responsible

An open letter signed by 11 Russian politicians said Russian President Vladimir Putin personally bears responsibility for the life of imprisoned Kremlin critic Alexey Navalny. Navalny has been on a hunger strike since March 31 and is at a growing risk of renal failure and cardiac arrest.

 

Train Crash Near Cairo

At least 11 people were killed and 98 injured when a train, heading to Mansoura, went off the tracks near the city of Toukh, northern Cairo on Sunday. The Egyptian Railways Authority said it was still investigating what caused the accident.

 

Czechia Expels Russian Diplomats

The government of the Czech Republic said on Saturday, the country is expelling 18 Russian diplomats over suspicions that Russian intelligence services were involved in an ammunition depot explosion in 2014.

 

Texas Shooting Suspect Identified

Authorities on Sunday evening went searching for a former property crimes detective, Stephen Nicholas Broderick, who is suspected of shooting and killing three people in Austin, Texas in what was described as a domestic violence incident. Broderick was previously charged with the sexual assault of a child.

 

Iraqi Military Airbase Attack 

At least five rockets hit the Iraqi military airbase at Balad north of Baghdad, wounding two Iraqi soldiers. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack on Sunday.
