FBI Chief to Testify...

FBI Director, Christopher Wray, is set to testify on Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee for the first time since the deadly January 6 riot at the US Capitol. Questions about the FBI’s preparations for the riot are expected to dominate his appearance.

 

Nigerian Schoolgirls Freed

279 schoolgirls, who were abducted by gunmen from a boarding school in northwest Nigeria last Friday have been released. Government authorities said that the girls are safe and well and on government premises. This is the fourth mass abduction in Nigeria in less than three months.

 

Myanmar Protests Continue

Myanmar police opened fire on Tuesday to scatter crowds protesting against the military coup and demanding the release of civilian leader Suu Kyi. Foreign ministers of neighboring countries prepared to hold talks with the junta to find a peaceful way out of the crisis. Witnesses said, four people were wounded in the northwestern town of Kale, where police fired live ammunition.

 

US to Sanction Russia

The United States is expected to impose sanctions on Russia for the poisoning of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny last August, two sources familiar with the matter said. The Kremlin has denied any role in Navalny's illness and said it had seen no proof he was poisoned.
