Myanmar Protester Dies
A 20-year-old protester, who was shot during a rally in Myanmar last week, died after 10 days on life support. The young woman was taken to the hospital on February 9 after being hit by a live bullet and is the first to be killed in protests since the military coup.
Italy's 5-Star at Crossroads
Italy’s 5-Star Movement is at a crossroads. The party initially refused to back Mario Draghi. Shortly after, the founder, Beppe Grillo, held a crisis meeting with 5-Star lawmakers and clarified that their position must be reversed. And yet, some of them defied the party line and refused to support Draghi at his first vote of confidence in parliament on Wednesday.
Biden to Attend G7 Meeting
US President Joe Biden will attend his first virtual meeting with Group of Seven leaders to discuss COVID-19, world economy, and challenges posed by China. White House spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, said Biden will focus on the global response to the pandemic, including vaccine production and distribution of supplies.
ROK PM Assures Vaccine Safety
South Korea’s prime minister has assured there are no safety issues with the AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine, noting a fair number of Koreans were concerned over its side effects. Authorities have said they will not be using the vaccine on the elderly until more efficacy data is available.
