Iraq Rocket Attack

Following a rocket attack near Erbil International Airport in northern Iraq, which killed a US Military contractor and injured 6 others last night, the United States pledged support in the investigations and in holding the perpetrators responsible. In a statement, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US is "outraged" by the attack.

 

Harris and Macron Speak

US Vice President Kamala Harris and French President Emmanuel Macron had their first conversation on Monday, in which Harris expressed her commitment to strengthening the relations between the two countries. The vice president’s office said in a statement, the parties discussed COVID-19, climate change, democracy, and regional challenges and the need to confront them together.

 

France 'Anti-Separatism' Bill

The French parliament will vote on an 'anti-separatism' bill today to battle Islamist extremism. The bill seeks to tighten rules on several issues; including religious teaching, online hate, and polygamy. The state argues that the bill is needed to strengthen France's secular system but activists say it breaches religious freedom.

 

North Korea Tries to Hack Pfizer

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service said North Korean hackers tried to steal information on COVID-19 vaccines and treatments by breaking into the system of Pfizer Inc. Pfizer’s offices in Asia and South Korea did not have an immediate comment on the cyber attack.
