Heavy Protests Across Russia
Thousands of Alexei Navalny supporters have begun protests in cities across Russia to convince the Kremlin to release him after his arrest on Sunday. So far, Police have arrested more than 100 people. The rallies are likely to be the country’s largest since 2017.

 

Trump Impeachment Trial
The US House of Representatives is expected to deliver the impeachment charge against Donald Trump to the Senate on Monday, accusing the former president of inciting an insurrection. Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer, said the trial is scheduled to begin during the week of February 8, pushing it back by two weeks.

 

Biden and Trudeau Plan to Meet 
Following a call between US President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, both leaders plan to meet next month, Trudeau's office said. The White House said the leaders discussed combating the COVID-19 pandemic and addressing the climate crisis.

 

China New COVID-19 Cases
China's National Health Commission has reported 107 new COVID-19 cases identified on Saturday. Some Chinese cities imposed new restrictions. China on Friday premiered a documentary film to mark the anniversary of the Wuhan lockdown; the city where the disease emerged in late 2019.
