Indonesia Earthquake 
A 6.2-magnitude earthquake on the Indonesian Sulawesi island killed at least 35 people and injured hundreds today. The head of Indonesia’s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency warned of strong aftershocks that could trigger a tsunami. The earthquakes and aftershocks also damaged more than 60 homes.

 

Chinese Vaccine Rollout 
Indonesia and Turkey are among the countries that have started rolling out an inoculation campaign of the Chinese coronavirus vaccine. Brazil and Hungary will follow soon. Beijing has sent millions of Sinovac Biotech's shot around the world and is also marketing another vaccine made by Sinopharm.

 

Central Americans Aim to Migrate 
Hoping to reach the United States, hundreds of Central American families gathered overnight on Thursday in the city of San Pedro Sula, Honduras, waiting for the departure of the first migrant caravan of the year early Friday. Central American authorities have increased efforts to reduce migration by adopting anti-coronavirus measures as their latest tool.

 

International Students Campaign 
An official petition to exempt international students from border closures in Australia due to the coronavirus pandemic has gathered 3,000 signatures. The petition needs a total of 12,000 signatures from Australians until February 10 before reaching lawmakers.
