Trump Impeachment Move
The House of Representatives will vote today on an impeachment charge against US President Donald Trump for inciting violence in a speech to his supporters before the US Capitol chaos last week. Democrats, along with some Republicans, moved forward on the impeachment after Vice President Mike Pence rejected to invoke the 25th Amendment.
YouTube Bans Trump Channel
Joining other social media platforms, YouTube has also suspended US President Donald Trump’s channel as it violated policies for inciting violence. The company has prevented new uploads and disabled comments on the channel for at least seven days.
US Accuses Iran of Al-Qaeda Ties
In a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said al-Qaeda has a new home base in Iran, without providing further evidence. In a tweet, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif refuted the claim, accusing Pompeo of "warmongering lies."
Oman's First Crown Prince
For the first time in the country's history, the oldest son of Oman’s sultan, Dhi Yazan bin Haitham Al Said, became the first crown prince on Tuesday. The new crown prince is currently the minister of culture, sports, and youth. On Monday, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said issued a decree for succession, providing for the appointment of a crown prince for the first time.
