As reported by The New York Times, US President Donald Trump has discussed the possibility of pardoning himself with multiple aides. Such an act would be a remarkable use of presidential power. Lawyers say there is no definite answer on whether a president can legally issue a self-pardon.

US Envoy to UN Headed to Taiwan

US ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft will visit Taiwan next week. Craft will reinforce the US government’s strong and consistent support for Taiwan’s international space. China firmly opposed the visit and warned that the US is playing with fire. Beijing considers the island as one of its own provinces and not a country.

Iran Threatens Revenge

According to a video surfaced on Twitter, the leader of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps Major General Hossein Salami has warned US President Donald Trump that "revenge on the perpetrators of Soleimani’s martyrdom is definite and serious." Salami made the comments following the one-year assassination anniversary of Iranian top general Qassem Soleimani.

WHO Calls for Increased Measures

The World Health Organization has called on European countries to intensify coronavirus measures amid the new UK strain. While the variant spreads faster than others, there is no proof that it is more deadly or severe.
