UK Flight Restrictions

The new coronavirus variant identified in the UK, which could be up to 70% more transmissible, has been detected in Australia. The mutated strain has led Canada, Hong Kong, and several other countries to ban flights from Britain and impose strict quarantine regulations on those arriving from the region.

US Embassy Attack

In an attack targeting the US Embassy in Iraq, at least eight rockets landed in Baghdad’s Green Zone on Sunday. A military statement said the missiles damaged buildings and cars in a residential complex and wounded one Iraqi soldier. The Embassy confirmed there was some minor damage on the Embassy compound.

Europe Cuts Off UK

Following British PM Boris Johnson's warning of a more infectious coronavirus strain, several European countries rushed to ban flights and trade ties with the UK. One of Britain's largest supermarket chains said gaps will start appearing on shelves within days if transport bans are not lifted with mainland Europe.

Hong Kong Mask Ban

Hong Kong's court ruled the ban of wearing masks at all public meetings during the 2019 anti-government protests constitutional, making it right for the government to impose emergency measures over mask ban breaches. Many protestors wore masks to hide their identities from authorities. The ruling came at a time when mask-wearing is obligatory to restrict the spread of COVID-19.
