First Vaccine Shipments

Health care systems across the US are expected to be receiving the first batches of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Monday.

About 2.9 million doses will be distributed within the first week. 

Gen. Gustave Perna, chief operating officer of Operation Warp Speed said, several states are expected to start giving the shots to front-line health care workers and long-term care facilities.

 

Paris Protests Continue

Paris protests against a 'security law' continue for the third weekend. Authorities have arrested nearly 150 people on Saturday. Police targeted protesters who were suspected to practice violations. The new 'security bill' prohibits the publication of police images, which could undermine press freedom to document police brutality.

 

Pro-Trump Demonstrations 

Refusing to accept the loss, thousands of President Donald Trump supporters gathered across the country on Saturday to protest against the presidential election results. Washington's demonstration turned violent as police interfered to stop clashes between pro-Trump “Proud Boys” and anti-Trump protest groups.

 

Iran Executes Dissident Journalist 

Iranian dissident journalist, Ruhollah Zam, was executed on Saturday. After years in exile in France, He was captured in Tehran last year. France was angered by the decision, calling it “barbaric and unacceptable”. Human rights groups have also condemned the action.
