Myanmar Crisis
A Myanmar court filed two more charges against detained leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Monday. Suu Kyi has not been seen in public since her arrest on February 1 but looked well as she took part in a court hearing through video conferencing. Myanmar has been in chaos since the military coup. On Sunday, police opened fire on protesters killing 18.

 

China: 'Decline in Media Freedom'
The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of China said on Monday, China used COVID-19 prevention measures, intimidation, and visa restrictions to limit foreign reporting in 2020. Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said the claims lacked any base, saying China always welcomes media from all countries to cover news according to the law.

 

Hong Kong Subversion Hearing
Around one thousand people gathered outside a Hong Kong court on Monday for the hearing of 47 democracy activists charged with conspiracy to commit subversion. The activists are accused of organizing and participating in an unofficial primary election last July.

 

Netanyahu Accuses Iran...
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Iran on Monday of an explosion on an Israeli-owned ship in the Gulf of Oman last week. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, denied any involvement by Iran, adding, “the security of the Persian Gulf is extremely important for Iran.”
